About the presentations

Presentations can be tailored for your group. As an author-in-residence, Ms. Albert has done hands-on nature activities with students, helped develop nature trails, and presented workshops on nature writing. Her most  popular presentations are described below.

A Rainforest Adventure
Albert talks about the plight of rainforests and how we can help save them. Students are riveted by stories of her rainforest adventures. They view a short video and learn how to make a mini-rainforest that makes its own rain.

A Coral Reef Adventure
Albert takes students on an imaginary trip to the coral reef. They unpack some surprising snorkeling gear, examine reef artifacts, learn how to make a wave bottle, and take a video trip to the reef. Kids learn how coral reefs are threatened and how to protect them.

A Backyard Adventure
Ms. Albert gives kids ideas for exploring one of the seasons by demonstrating hands-on activities that help them become more observant and responsible caretakers of our Earth. Fun, interesting, informative, and based on solid science.

I Heard the Willow Weep
A PowerPoint presentation: Ms. Albert discusses pressing environmental problems: too much trash, endangered animals, threats to rainforests and coral reefs, and pollution. She demonstrates projects to help restore our Earth.

Busy with Bugs
A PowerPoint presentation: Ms. Albert discusses the anatomy, behavior, life cycles, and habitats of some common bugs. She teaches students how to catch and care for bugs and she shares her ten favorite things to do with bugs.

scheduling and fees

We can discuss scheduling and fees by email or telephone. I do many different kinds of events: school visits - library programs - bookstore events - nature center festivals - literacy programs - homeschool programs - daycare programs - teacher conferences, etc. Each kind of event has its own fee schedule. I'm happy to negotiate, so that we can decide on a fee that is fair to both of us. My primary objective is to "teach kids to care for the Earth."
